Bladed Weapons Classification

      Short Bladed Weapons

  1. knife |n|  a tool, usually with a metal blade and a handle, used for cutting and spreading food or other substances, or as a weapon.
  2. clasp knife |n| a large pocketknife, esp. one with blades which, when open, can be secured by a catch.
  3. hunting knife |n| a knife used during hunting for preparing the game to be used as food: skinning the animal and cutting up the meat.
  4. hunting dagger |n| a knife used to kill wild game.
  5. survival knife |n| a knife intended for survival purposes in a wildernessenvironment, often in an emergency when the user has lost most of his/her main equipment.
  6. hatchet |n| a small, short-handled ax having the end of the head opposite the blade in the form of a hammer, made to be used with one hand.
  7. bread knife |n|a knife designed or suitable for slicing bread, as one having a wavy or saw-toothed blade.
  8. butcher’s knife |n|  a heavy-duty knife usually 6 to 8 inches long having a broad rigid blade that curves slightly at the tip.
  9. carving knife |n| a knife with a long blade used for carving cooked meat into slices.
  10. paper knife |n| a knife for slitting envelopes or uncut pages.
  11. dagger |n| a short knife with a pointed and edged blade, used as a weapon.



    Medium Size Bladed Weapons

  1. sword |n| weapon consisting of a ling straight or curved blade fixed to a hilt.
  2. falchion |n| a broad, short sword having a convex edge curving sharply to the point.
  3. machete |n| a large heavy knife used for cutting sugarcane and underbrush and as a weapon.





      Large Size Bladed Weapons

  1. lance |n| a long wooden shaft with a pointed metal head, used as a weapon by knights and cavalry soldiers in charging.
  2. spear 1 |n| a thrusting or throwing weapon with long shaft and sharp head or blade
  3. spear 2 |n| a sharp-pointed instrument with barbs used in spearing fish.




      Others

  1. dart |n| a small pointed missile that can be thrown or fired.
  2. "The classroom was littered with paper darts."
  3. "She shot the animal with a tranquillizing dart."
  4. arc / bow |n| a weapon for shooting arrows, typically made of a curved piece of wood joined at both ends by a taut string.
  5. crossbow |n| a medieval bow of a kind that is fixed across a wooden support and has a groove for the bolt and a mechanism for drawing and releasing the string.
  6. arrow |n| a slender, straight, generally pointed missile or weapon made to be shot from a bow and equipped with feathers at the end of the shaft near the nock, for controlling flight.
  7. arbalest  |n| a crossbow especially of medieval times.
